Silicon Valley Consultants Association Offers Tools to Beat a Challenging Market for Talent

Businesss Wire

Santa Clara, California, June 14, 2006 – In light of the unexpectedly low unemployment rate reported last week, PATCA offers several solutions for hiring managers and businesses who are finding it increasingly difficult to find specialized talent. Although more Americans have jobs now than at any other time in history, conservative employment growth is still the norm in many corporations. One strategy to help companies stay competitive in the current recruiting environment is to work with independent consultants who can quickly bring the right skills to the job, and can add value on a project-by-project basis.

PATCA's Post-a-Project consultant search service, which was one of the first direct project referral programs developed, is available free to the business community. The website service enables potential clients to easily transmit a request for specialized consulting services to PATCA's network of independent consultant members and receive a quick response from qualified specialists.

"We're witnessing the full emergence of the entrepreneurial workforce, a trend PATCA helped launch more than thirty years ago," said PATCA President Joel Williams. "People today are seeking a greater degree of balance between their business and personal lives than ever before. Hiring companies benefit by having access to top-tier professionals who can develop and deliver business solutions on an as-needed basis. Working as an independent consultant gives talented people the autonomy to demonstrate their skills to companies in a wide range of industries, while enjoying the quality of life they seek. It's a win-win solution."

Williams' assertion is supported by positive client feedback and the jump in project leads for its member consultants, which have more than doubled since the organization's revamped website debuted in February. Leads from PATCA's Post-a-Project service were five times greater during May 2006 than during the same month in the previous year.

Additionally, PATCA members are reporting a spike in the number of direct calls they receive from clients who find their listings in the association's online member directory. The directory contains an up-to-date database of seasoned experts in more than 200 disciplines, from marketing to management, biosciences to engineering. It is freely accessible to all hiring managers and client companies. Companies that would like a printed copy of the 2006 edition of the PATCA member consultant directory, coming this fall, may request it in advance via the PATCA website.
